This fine 19th century Native American Southwestern Polychrome Pottery Jar was created at San Ildefonso Pueblo in an olla form, circa 1875-1890. It was shaped and dried by hand in the traditional tribal manner then finely painted with slip glazes traditional designs. The Pueblo de San Ildefonso ("Where the water cuts through") was established, circa 1300 CE. The pueblo is located along the Rio Grande Valley of New Mexico (north of Santa Fe).
