Heidi Gisela Strunck 1992
Birdseye Maple and Reclaimed Objects

Heide Gislea Strunck was born in 1945 in Deggendorf, Germany amid the chaos of that followed the Second World War. Her sculptures are inspired by her travels throughout the world, but especially the Southwestern United States and India. The shapes and textures of her pieces incorporate architectural and ornamental elements she had encountered on her journeys. Often, she repeats  forms and symmetrical configurations to bring a sense of harmony to the work. Simple forms like spheres, cubes or triangles connect her work to the many cultures that have influenced it. Her work is included in a number of private and public collections including that of Capital Bank and the University of Dallas as well as museums throughout Texas. We acquired this piece from the artist.
