BUFFET DE CHÂTEAU
France-circa 1810
Hand-carved walnut
Standing nearly nine feet high, this rare Buffet de Château (armoire provencale), crafted in France circa 1810, is an excellent example of French furniture during the late eighteenth century. With a wonderfully rich patina, this beautiful piece features intricate carvings throughout. The tall cabinet features exquisite carvings of swirling ivy, delicate flowers, and laurel leaves. The bonnet top cabinet has its original shelving, lock, cremaillere and key and heavy forged hardware. Excellent condition with rich washed walnut patina. We acquired the piece from a private dealer in Paris.
